Although stress impacts everyone, men are particularly vulnerable.
According to social scientist Dr. Thomas Joiner, “Males experience higher
mortality rates than females at all stages of life from conception to old age.”
I talk with Jed Diamond, PhD, bestselling author, family therapist and men's health expert about his new book,
"MenAlive: Stop Killer Stress With Simple Energy Healing Tools."
The book teaches men and women simple yet effective practices
to stop the stress that shortens lives and destroys relationships.
It offers tools to address the most pressing problems men face today including:
Irritable Male Syndrome, depression, chronic pain, sexual dysfunction,
loss of desire, male menopause, age-related issues and the stresses related to
our economic and ecological transition.
Jed Diamond has been a licensed psychotherapist helping men,
and the women who love them, for more than 40 years.
He is the founder and director of MenAlive, a health program that helps men
live long and well. Diamond is the author of ten books, including international
best-sellers Surviving Male Menopause, The Irritable Male Syndrome,
Looking for Love in All the Wrong Places: Overcoming Romantic and
Sexual Addictions, and Mr. Mean: Saving Your Relationship
from the Irritable Male Syndrome.
Since its inception in 1992, Jed Diamond has been on the Board of Advisors
of the Men’s Health Network. He is also a member of the Association
for Comprehensive Energy Psychology (ACEP), the International Society
for the Study of the Aging Male and serves as a member of the International
Scientific Board of the World Congress on Gender and Men’s Health.
He is the only male columnist writing for the National Association
of Baby Boomer Women.
Diamond’s work has been featured in major newspapers throughout the
U.S., including the New York Times, Boston Globe, Wall Street Journal,
The Los Angeles Times, and USA Today. He has been featured
on more than 1,000 radio and T.V. programs including The View
with Barbara Walters, Good Morning America, Today Show,CNN-360
with Anderson Cooper, CNN with Glenn Beck, CBS, NBC, and Fox News,
and To Tell the Truth. He also did a nationally televised special on
Male Menopause for PBS.
In Part I of "MenAlive: Stop Killer Stress With Simple Energy Healing Tools,"
Diamond describes the hazards and blessings of being male,
why perpetual stress is deadly, the science behind energy healing,
and “the ultimate power tool” for guys who want their lives to work.
In Part II, he details the four energy healing tools Diamond believes to be
the most effective and scientifically sound: Earthing, Heart-Coherence,
Attachment Love, and Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT).
In Part III, he applies the tools to the most pressing problems men face today,
including: Irritable Male Syndrome (IMS), male-type depression,
chronic pain, sexual dysfunction and loss of desire, Andropause (male menopause)
and age-related issues, and the stresses related to our economic
and ecological transition.
Both men and women will be interested in getting answers to the following questions:
1. Is Irritable Male Syndrome (IMS) undermining your health and relationship?
2. How can you treat depression without talk therapy or drugs?
3. Which simple energy healing tool relieve shoulder, neck, and back pain?
4. What are the best tools for reducing inflammation and improving sleep?
5. How can you keep Andropause (male menopause) from ruining your sex life?
6. Could you and your partner be going through “double menopause?”
7. Why do men frighten women and why do women shame men?
8. Which tools should you use to best ensure that a relationship lasts a lifetime?
9. What are the most important things you can do when the economy hits the fan?
10.How can you prepare for the global changes in 2012 and beyond?
